Aging in thermal active glasses

چکیده

It is well established that glassy materials can undergo aging, i.e., their properties gradually change over time. There rapidly growing evidence dense active and living systems also exhibit many features of behavior, but it still largely unknown how physical aging manifested in such materials. Our goal to explore whether passive thermal glasses age fundamentally different ways. To address this, we numerically study the dynamics following a quench from high low temperature for two-dimensional Brownian model glass-formers. We find governed by time-dependent competition between effects, with an effective explicitly evolves material. Moreover, unlike phenomenology, degree dynamic heterogeneity relatively small remarkably constant age. conclude often-invoked mapping system one higher rigorously breaks down upon differs several distinct ways both athermal case.

Physical aging in polymer glasses.

Physical aging refers to structural relaxation of the glassy state toward the metastable equilibrium amorphous state, and it is accompanied by changes in almost all physical properties. These changes, which must be taken into account in the design, manufacture, and use of glassy polymer materials and devices, present a daunting challenge to theorists.

Thermal rejuvenation in metallic glasses

Structural rejuvenation in metallic glasses by a thermal process (i.e. through recovery annealing) was investigated experimentally and theoretically for various alloy compositions. An increase in the potential energy, a decrease in the density, and a change in the local structure as well as mechanical softening were observed after thermal rejuvenation. Two parameters, one related to the anneali...

Aging of spherical spin glasses

Sompolinski and Zippelius (1981) propose the study of dynamical systems whose invariant measures are the Gibbs measures for (hard to analyze) statistical physics models of interest. In the course of doing so, physicists often report of an \aging" phenomenon. For example, aging is expected to happen for the Sherrington-Kirkpatrick model, a disordered mean-eld model with a very complex phase tran...

Active Aging Index and Its Individual Determinants in Tehran, Iran

Background and Aim: “Active ageing” is the process of optimizing opportunities for health, participation and security of the elderly in order to enhance their quality of life. This study aimed to measure the Active Ageing Index (AAI) in Tehran at the individual level and determine its determinants.     Materials and Methods: This quantitative cross-sectional study included 590 old people 55 ye...

Aging in attraction-driven colloidal glasses.

Aging in an attraction-driven colloidal glass is studied by computer simulations. The system is equilibrated without attraction and instantaneously "quenched," at constant colloid volume fraction, to one of two states beyond the glass transition; one is close to the transition, and the other one deep in the glass. The evolution of structural properties shows that bonds form in the system, incre...
